Mortimer in for Morton on 'Transsiberian'
EmptyEmily Mortimer has joined the cast of Brad Anderson's crime thriller "Trans- siberian," Spanish production house Filmax Entertainment said Wednesday.
Mortimer, who joins Woody Harrelson, Kate Mara, Eduardo Noriega and Ben Kingsley in the cast, is stepping in for the previously announced Samantha Morton.
Morton was forced to drop out because of a recent injury — suffered when a ceiling fell at her London home — which left her unavailable to work during the film's shooting schedule, Filmax said.
The film, a co-production with Germany's Universum Film GmbH, is Anderson's follow-up to "The Machinist," another Filmax production.
"Transsiberian," which began production last week in Vilnius, Lithuania, will shoot on location in Beijing and Russia.
The film revolves around an American couple, Roy (Harrelson) and Jessie (Mortimer), who travel on the famed Trans-Siberian train from China to Moscow. They soon encounter another couple, Abby (Mara) and her boyfriend, Carlos (Noriega), and what seems to be a simple train journey turns into a chase full of deception and murder.
Kingsley rounds out the cast as a Russian police officer hot on the trail of the couples.
Mortimer's deal was negotiated by Brillstein-Grey Entertainment, WMA and Harriet Robinson of ICM London.
