Shares of movie theater operators rose Thursday after AMC Entertainment, the nation's second-largest theater chain, filed again for an initial public offering. Shares of Carmike Cinemas Inc. led the pack, rising 3.2% to $18.63. Late Wednesday, AMC said it plans to raise about $469.1 million in an IPO, according to a regulatory filing. The company's predecessor, Marquee Holdings, filed for an IPO in April, but suspended the planned offering a month later citing unfavorable market conditions. The company formally withdrew the offering in June. AMC reported a profit of $14.6 million in the quarter ending June 30, compared with a loss of $14.1 million a year ago.
