Movies big and small for 'October' character
EmptyEvan Jones is doing the studio-indie split.
The "October Road" actor has nabbed a role in Warner Bros.' futuristic Western "The Book of Eli," to be directed by Albert and Allen Hughes ("From Hell"). Also new on his docket is a part in the independent drama "American Tragic," written and directed by Ryan Piers Williams.
In "Eli," Jones will play the leader of a quartet of bikers who tussle with Eli (Denzel Washington). Gary Oldman, Jennifer Beals and Mila Kunis also star in the Joel Silver-produced film.
In the Maya Entertainment-produced "Tragic," Jones will play an old friend of James (Ryan O'Nan) who works in a slaughterhouse. The cast also includes June Raphael, Oscar nominee Melissa Leo and America Ferrera, who is executive producing.
Jones, repped by APA and Curtis Talent Management, also has appeared in "8 Mile" and "Jarhead." (partialdiff)
