MP I Media nabs 'Il Divo' rights

Paolo Sorrentino's film also lands several overseas deals

Cannes grand jury prize winner "Il Divo" has been picked up for U.S. distribution by MP I Media Group.

Thursday at the AFM, the film's sales company, Beta Cinema, also reported a long list of international deals for Paolo Sorrentino's controversial tale about Italian politician Giulio Andreotti.

"Il Divo" also has been sold to Delphi Films in Germany; Folkets Bio in Sweden; Sunrise Film in Denmark; Against Gravity and HBO Poland (pay TV) in Poland; David Matous Communications for the Czech Republic and Slovakia; and Best Hollywood for Hungary.

Beta Cinema also announced the sale of Philipp Stoelzl's mountain-climbing drama "North Face" to Lady Film in Italy and Mars Production in Turkey; while Umberto Pasolini's "Machan," winner of the Venice Film Festival's Europa cinema award, has sold to France (UGC), Canada (Alliance Atlantis) and Switzerland (Rialto Film).

Additionally, Hannes Stoehr's "Berlin Calling" was purchased for Hungary (Best Hollywood) and the Czech Republic/Slovakia (David Matous Communications). "Run For Your Life" will be distributed in Hungary by Best Hollywood and in Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia by Pa-Do-Ra.
