MPAA creates rights dept., taps Saunders
EmptyThe MPAA announced Monday the creation of a department dedicated to rights management and copyright royalty policy, and appointed organization veteran Jane Saunders senior vp in charge of the operation.
Previously vp international commercial relations, Saunders joined the MPAA in 1995. For the past six years she has been responsible for the organization's European rights management activities.
MPAA chairman and CEO Dan Glickman said the new department represents a consolidation of several existing programs. The move aims to streamline and better coordinate the management of business and political aspects of copyright royalty activities at the MPAA and its international affiliate, the MPA.
Saunders will oversee all department activities including revenue agreement negotiations. The MPAA and MPA operates rights management and copyright royalty programs on behalf of its member companies in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
"Jane has unparalleled experience in the business, legal and political aspects of managing copyright royalties and dealing with rights management concerns," Glickman said. "I am grateful and enthusiastic that she has agreed to take on new responsibilities and oversee what will be a more efficient and effective global operation."
A native of Atlanta, Saunders practiced law there and in Washington before joining the MPAA.
