MTV Hires Nic Harcourt as Music Supervisor in Residence
The industry "tastemaker" will also work with Hype Music to help launch undiscovered talent.
MTV has brought Nic Harcourt on board to serve as the network's first Music Supervisor in Residence.
In his new position, Harcourt, a respected industry "tastemaker" who has helped launch stars such as Coldplay, Dido, Adele and Norah Jones, will oversee a number of MTV shows over the course of the year.
In addition, Harcourt will also work as a Creative Consultant for Hype Music, a new music production/licensing partnership between MTV and Extreme Music that aims to discover emerging talent. Harcourt will help locate budding stars for the label, which offers first-look consideration for MTV programming and access to Extreme's client base.
"Nic Harcourt is synonymous with music discovery and we are excited to bring his wealth of music knowledge and experience into the dialogue that MTV has with our audience about music," Joe Cuello, MTV's Senior Vice President of Creative Music Integration, said in a statement released Monday.
