MTV Latin America starts online sales division

RedViacom expected to draw 15 mil hits a month

MEXICO CITY -- MTV Networks Latin America on Wednesday launched RedViacom, a digital sales division targeting online advertising clients throughout the region.

RedViacom, the first online advertising platform of its kind outside the U.S., features a broad range of Viacom-owned content under such brands as MTV, VH1 and Nickelodeon. It also hosts digital properties, including Neopets, Shockwave and Gametrailers.

John Mafoutsis, senior vp international sales in Latin America, said he expects RedViacom to draw about 15 million hits a month and generate significant revenue, but he declined to disclose financial details.

Senior vp strategy and business development Jose Tolosa and ad sales director Marcelo Cacciola will oversee the startup. They will report Mafoutsis in Miami.

Additionally, MTV Latin America is set to announce a new music video Web site next week in Mexico City.
