MTV seals int'l sales deals on 'Penguins'

DreamWorks Animation-produced animated series

CANNES -- MTV Networks International has closed more than 40 sales deals for Nickelodeon's Number one rated CG animated series "The Penguins of Madagascar," it was announced Monday.

The DreamWorks Animation-produced animated series is based on the much-loved Penguin characters from the "Madagascar" franchise, which grossed more than $1.1 billion in global boxoffice.

Distributed by MTV Networks International the show has been sold to multiple international broadcast partners across Asia-Pacific, Europe and Latin America including China (SMG Best TV), Brasil (Globosat), France (TF1), Italy (Mediaset), Hong Kong (TVB), Mexico (Televisa), Middle East (E-Vizion), New Zealand (TVNZ), Portugal (SIC), Russia (TNT), Spain (TV3 Catalunya) and the U.K. (GMTV).

The deal was announced by MTVNI evp Steve Grieder, who said that the long-term project between Nickeoldeon and Dreamworks Animation had paid off.
