MTV Video Music Awards: Beyonce's '4' Producer, The-Dream, Teases Her VMA Performance
The R&B singer, songwriter, and record producer says, "She performs her a-- off."
Terius Nash, better known as The-Dream to his fans, has produced for 2011 MTV Video Music Awards performer and nominee, Beyonce, for a few years now, including her hit “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” and her most recent album 4.
The R&B Singer, songwriter and record producer hosted the 2011 ASCAP VMA Bowling Mixer on Saturday night where he teased Beyonce’s much-anticipated performance on Sunday, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “I can’t tell you what she’s performing, but the idea is great.”
In addition to performing, Beyonce is up for three awards for "Run The World (Girls)": Best Female Video, Best Choreography and Best Cinematography. And The-Dream believes she deserves every one.
“She’s just so great. I kind of started to understand why some people hate her so much,” he tells us. “It’s like ‘I just hate you, woman, you’re so good at everything.’ She does a great show. She performs her a-- off. And she’s one of the hardest working people, woman or man, in the business.”
The-Dream says that in the three or so years he’s been working with Beyonce, he’s learned a lot about what it takes to stay on top in the music industry.
“I always thought that work ethic gets you want you want in the end and she’s just the realization of that, working through tough times,” he says.
“When it’s sweet, it’s sweet,” he continues. “But what really defines a person, as she’s shown, is that working when it’s the hardest, when you have to reprove yourself, you’ve got to prove it all over again. It’s like Michael Jordan getting three, retiring, and then he comes back and gets three more. There’s nothing better than that.”
