MTV VMAs: Nicki Minaj Calls Miley Cyrus a "Bitch" in Acceptance Speech
Miley Cyrus is hosting the 32nd annual awards show from Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater.
Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus continued their recent beef on stage during the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
While Minaj was wrapping her acceptance speech for best hip-hop video, the "Anaconda" singer took a stab at Cyrus in retaliation to recent comments the host made about her to The New York Times: "And now, back to this bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what's good?"
Cyrus replied, "Hey, we're all in this industry. We all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate s—," she said, adding "Nicki congratu–f—ing—lations," before telling audiences about voting for the show.
The cameras showed Minaj mouth "bitch" again after Cyrus began talking and raise both arms.
MTV released the full video of the interaction, after a Vine began to circulate allegedly showing Cyrus' shocked face. Here's a split screen of Cyrus and Minaj as everything happened.
In the Times interview, Cyrus said of Minaj: "I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it. And it’s not anger like, 'Guys, I’m frustrated about some things that are a bigger issue.' You made it about you. Not to sound like a bitch, but that’s like, 'Eh, I didn’t get my VMA' ... If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: 'This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’re girls everywhere with this body type.' ... What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj, is not too kind. It’s not very polite."
