The Muppets Parody R-Rated 'Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' in New Trailer (Video)
The new teaser is titled “The Pig With the Froggy Tattoo.”
Disney is doing its best to up the Muppets' hip quotient in advance of the The Muppets movie coming this November. But the latest attempt pushes the family-friendly characters into edgier territory than they've ever entered before with a new trailer parodying David Fincher's dark and violent upcoming thriller The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
The trailer features a parody of the Trent Reznor-Karen O cover of Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song and even name checks Fincher's film, so the similarity is not coincidental. This version is referred to as The Pig With the Froggy Tattoo.
This isn't the first Muppets trailer to parody the marketing of an adult-themed movie. Earlier this summer, a teaser trailer was released referencing the ad campaign for the R-rated comedy The Hangover Part 2.
The question is, if the trailer clicks with young Muppet fans, will any kids be wanting to see the very R-rated thriller?
