'My Babysitter's a Vampire' gets cast

Matthew Knight to star in spoof for Teletoon, premieres in Oct.

TORONTO -- Matthew Knight ("Flashpoint"), Atticus Mitchell, Cameron Kennedy and Vanessa Morgan Mziray are to top-line "My Babysitter's a Vampire," a live-action TV movie from indie producer Fresh TV for the Canadian cable animation channel Teletoon.

Knight will play a geeky 14-year-old boy who receives as parental punishment a gorgeous babysitter on Friday nights, played by Morgan Mziray ("Harriet the Spy").

Ella Jonas Farlinger, Joe Dinicol and Kate Todd round out the ensemble cast.

The comedy spoof will be directed by Bruce McDonald and will shoot through mid-May in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario before debuting on Teletoon in October.

Fresh TV earlier produced the popular Teletoon tween comedy series "6 Teen" for Teletoon.

"My Babysitter's a Vampire" was created by Tom McGillis and Jennifer Pertsch, who are executive producing along with Brian Irving and George Elliott. Tim Burns ("An American Werewolf in Paris") penned the screenplay, while Lynn Mallay will produce.
