Mythology Entertainment Inks First-Look Deal With 20th TV
The young production company also adds execs Julia Gunn and Tracey Nyberg.
Mythology Entertainment, the 3-year-old production company with footholds in both film and television, has signed a first-look deal with 20th Century Fox Television and newly formed Fox 21 Television Studios. Additionally, Mythology has added two new development execs in Julia Gunn (TV) and Tracey Nyberg (film).
“We are thrilled to have a home at Fox for Mythology’s television business, which we look forward to building under Julia Gunn’s leadership along with our new partners at 20th and Fox 21,” said Mythology co-founders Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt. “We are also excited to welcome the incomparable Tracey Nyberg to our team to oversee Mythology’s film slate. Julia and Tracey bring with them an extraordinary wealth of experience and relationships, not to mention great taste. We’re lucky to have them aboard.”
On the TV front, Mythology already has HBO's Shutter Island prequel, Ashecliffe, with Martin Scorsese attached to direct the pilot. (Also in development at the network is Silk Road.)
"It's a dream for me to be joining a company that attracts the most talented people in our business, especially during such an inspired time in TV," said newly minted exec vp of television Gunn, who most recently worked at Lifetime. "Mythology is well-known for nurturing visionary filmmakers and for packaging grade-A projects. I look forward to spearheading and growing our TV division as we realize those same high standards and bring the most compelling characters and imaginative stories to life."
Exec vp film Nyberg comes from Temple Hill Entertainment and added: "Mythology is making fantastic films. … I have long admired their track record and commitment to excellence, and am excited to continue building their feature film slate in this dynamic time."
