Nanette Burstein pacts for RDF USA series
Doc filmmaker to develop, produce unscripted projectsNanette Burstein is rapidly expanding her portfolio.
The documentary filmmaker has inked a deal with RDF USA to develop and produce multiple unscripted series projects in the docu-reality genre.
The news comes on the heels of her signing to direct her first narrative feature, the Drew Barrymore-Justin Long romantic comedy "Going the Distance" for New Line.
"Nanette is an incredible filmmaker -- she earns the trust of her subjects, telling compelling stories with a unique sense of style," said RDF USA senior vp Lauren Gellert, who will work with Burstein on her development.
Instrumental in bringing Burstein to the RDF USA fold was company CEO Chris Coelen, who, as an agent at UTA, was on the team that repped her.
Burstein declined to reveal specifics about the RDF projects, saying only that "we are already off to a great start, developing original and unique ideas for the unscripted space."
Burstein's most recent doc, "American Teen," earned her the directing award at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
