NBC affiliates praise Leno shuffle
Board chair: Pulling Leno out of primetime is 'a great move'Moments after NBC made the "Jay Leno Show" exit from primetime official Sunday morning, the move got a thumbs-up from Michael Fiorile, chairman of the NBC Affiliate Board.
"This is a great move for the affiliates, the network and, most importantly, the viewers," he said in a statement. He thanked the network "for keeping the lines of communication so open and for being so responsive to the needs of the affiliates."
It was mounting pressure from NBC affiliates, whose late-night news ratings were hit hard by having "Jay Leno" as a lead-in, that led to the show's quick demise, NBC Uni TV Entertainment chairman Jeff Gaspin said Sunday at NBC's portion of TCA.
"We were delighted to collaborate on the launch of the 10:00 PM show, and we look forward to continuing to work with (NBC Uni CEO) Jeff Zucker and the entire network leadership team as we set a new direction, build on our long history together and contribute to the impressive legacy of NBC," Fiorile said.
