NBC Taps Fernando Hernandez for Alternative Development Post at Universal TV
He'll serve as senior vp alternative development at Universal Television.
NBC has added Fernando Hernandez to its alternative development family.
The executive has joined the network's studio counterpart as senior vp alternative development for Universal Television.
In the role, Hernandez will be responsible for all Universal Television reality efforts and oversee the studio's in-house producers and talent deals as well as developing new projects.
He joins the studio from Ryan Seacrest Productions, where he was executive vp development and production since 2009. There, he developed and produced entries including Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Shahs of Sunset, Married to Jonas and Draw Something.
“Fernando is a savvy and outstanding development and production executive who has delivered many hit shows while at Ryan Seacrest Productions, and he also has an invaluable working knowledge of the business as a producer and director,” said Meredith Ahr, exec vp alternative programming at NBC Entertainment. “He is a talented addition to our team and we can’t wait to start working with him.”
Before Seacrest, he was an EP on TV Land's She's Got the Look, MTV's Til Death Do US Part: Carmen and Dave and produced and directed projects for cable networks including VH1, TLC and MTV International, where he was vp development.
Seacrest Productions, meanwhile, is beefing up its executive ranks, adding a small army of programming executives including Joseph Ferraro and Heather Schuster as vp development and senior vp development, respectively.
