NBC Kids to Air Brit Animation ‘Poppy Cat’
British banner Coolabi extends claws further into U.S. market with deal for kids' network.
LONDON – U.K. pre-school animation Poppy Cat is purring after securing airtime on the Sprout-programmed NBC Kids, a three-hour preschool block which will air on Saturday mornings in the U.S.
The series, produced by U.K.-based children’s and family entertainment producer Coolabi, has been airing on Sprout since November 2011 and will be joining the NBC KIDS programming lineup from July this year.
The show aims to address the developmental needs of 2-5 year olds, featuring educational series that promote active, healthy lifestyles for younger children.
The deal with NBC Kids takes Poppy Cat into more than 110 million U.S. homes and bolsters the exposure of the property stateside.
There is an existing licensing presence through U.S agent the Joester Loria Group and is launching on DVD next Spring via Entertainment One.
U.K. commercial web channel CITV also secured a series of the animated show to begin May this year having been shown on commissioning broadcaster Nick Jr U.K. since May 2011.
