NBC marketing chief takes new role

Emmy winner John Miller to assist NBCU, Comcast merger

NBC's longtime marketing chief John Miller will step down from his post to take a new role within NBC Universal.

Miller will continue for the time being to carry the title of Chief Marketing Officer of NBC Universal TV Group and will work full time on the NBCU integration with Comcast. He will also continue chairing the NBC marketing council and oversee cross-promotion initiatives through the end of the year.

"John is an extremely well-respected executive, an invaluable asset to NBC Universal and has been a colleague and friend of mine for 20 years," said NBCU TV entertainment chairman Jeff Gaspin. "When he asked to retire, we immediately began thinking of opportunities we could present to keep him on the team."

Adam Stotsky, president of marketing, will run the network's marketing efforts.

"After 25 years of running marketing for NBC, and with good teams in place at NBC News, Sports and Entertainment, it seemed like a good time to finally hand things off," Miller said. "However, I will not remove the peacock tattoo obtained sometime during the 'Must-See TV' years."

Miller joined the network in 1982, has won an Emmy and is a Promax Hall of Fame member.
