NBC Uni Sports sold on Winter
EmptyNEW YORK -- NBC Universal on Thursday named Seth Winter senior vp, sales and marketing at its Sports & Olympics unit.
Winter's responsibility is for all sales and marketing for NBC Uni sports properties, including the 2008 Beijing Olympics, "Sunday Night Football" as well as golf, tennis and horse racing. He reports to ad sales president Keith Turner.
Meanwhile, NBC Sports got good news halfway around the world when the International Olympic Committee agreed to allow the 2008 Olympics to hold swimming and gymnastics finals in the morning, Beijing time, so that they will be beamed live to the U.S. in primetime. NBC, who is a big supporter of the IOC through its rights fees, had asked years ago to allow that to happen so that there would be immediacy for the big-ticket events.
"We're pleased with the IOC announcement from Beijing that will allow the two most popular Summer Olympic sports in the U.S. to be seen here mostly live," NBC said Thursday.
Winter was vp sales at NBC Uni Digital Media and vp sales at NBC News. He joined the company in 2000 as vp sales at MSNBC. Before that, he was president and general manager at WRBW-TV in Orlando and worked his way up the ranks at WOR-TV.
