NBC Uni ups pair to exec roles

NEW YORK -- NBC Universal has named two executives to its national leadership ranks.

Phyllis Schwartz will become executive vp news, promotion and original content at NBC Universal Television Stations, while Steve Schwaid has been promoted to senior vp strategic growth initiatives at NBC Universal.

Schwartz will be in charge of local content at the 10 owned-and-operated stations at NBC Uni and be based in San Diego. She had been GM of KNSD, the O&O in San Diego, for eight years. Schwaid had been senior vp news and programming for the stations group for the past six years.

Schwartz has more than 20 years experience, including vp news and creative services at WMAQ in Chicago, plus news director of WLS and assistant news director of WBBM, both in Chicago. Schwaid has worked in local TV for 30 years, including vp and news director at WCAU in Philadelphia, WTOG in Tampa, Fla., and WVIT in Hartford, Conn.
