NBC's 'SNF' wins in total viewers, 18-49 demo

NEW YORK -- "Sunday Night Football" gave NBC the kick it needed to win the night in viewership and the adults 18-49 demographic.

At least 13.4 million viewers tuned in for the Dallas Cowboys-Washington Redskins game, which the Redskins won 27-6 to push themselves into the playoffs. Final data will be released this week by Nielsen Media Research.

There was football runover from the late afternoon games on both Fox and CBS, though it wasn't a factor in the night. It threw CBS' schedule off. Fox came in second place in the night thanks to repeat animated comedies.

ABC's schedule was completely taken over by "The Sound of Music," which averaged 7.7 million viewers and a 2.0 rating/5 share in adults 18-49.

NBC (11.5 million, 4.2/11) led the night in both measures against ABC (7.7 million, 2.0/5); CBS (10 million, 2.5/7); Fox (7.7 million, 3.4/9); and the CW (826,000, 0.3/1).
