NBCUniversal Combines Broadcast and Cable Upfronts
NBCUniversal is putting all of its eggs in one basket. It announced Thursday that its entire entertainment portfolio will present on the same day during the traditional broadcast upfront week.
Those cable networks -- Bravo, E!, Esquire Network, Oxygen, Sprout, Syfy, USA Network -- join NBC and Telemundo the week of May 12. The cable brands had previously presented separately from February through May.
"Showcasing our entire portfolio to our advertising partners all at once is in response to marketplace demand and a natural next step in the evolution of the NBCUniversal portfolio coming together as one," said NBCUniversal president advertising sales Linda Yaccarino. "In a world of fragmentation, aggregation and scale means everything for our clients. Our wide-ranging portfolio of content and unequalled targeting capabilities enable us to creatively bring together advertising opportunities to meet our clients' needs uniquely and better than any other media company."
NBC and Telemundo will still have their own presentations, with NBC starting the week at New York City's Javits Center on May 12 and Telemundo going the following day at Jazz at Lincoln. The cable portfolio will close out the week with a "unique presentation" on Thursday, May 15, back at the Javits Center.
