NBCUniversal Plans 'Harry Potter' Attraction at Second Theme Park

The Comcast-controlled company is planning to expand Universal Studios Hollywood with offers similar to “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Orlando.
NEW YORK – Comcast-controlled NBCUniversal is planning to expand its Universal Studios Hollywood theme park in LA with an area dedicated to the Harry Potter franchise, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the situation.

The company is hoping to replicate the success of a Potter attraction at its Orlando, Fla., theme park that has done well and earned a rave review from Comcast chairman and CEO Brian Roberts who took his family there before the NBCUniversal acquisition closed.
The Potter offer at the second Universal theme park will likely resemble the one at Universal Orlando, the Journal said. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter features such things as a Hogwarts Castle, rollercoasters and themed restaurants, such as the Hog's Head tavern, which serves butter beer just as described in J. K. Rowling’s Potter books, the Journal said.

If the Potter theme park attractions continue to draw crowds, NBCUniversal could open more in Universal theme parks in such foreign territories as Japan, Singapore and Spain, according to the Journal.
