NBC Universal's Jerry Petry has been elected chairman of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation.

Petry, executive vp administration at NBC Universal, West Coast, was elected to the volunteer position by the foundation's board of directors, replacing Sony Pictures Television president Steve Mosko. He will serve through 2008.

"As a member of the foundation board, Jerry has made significant contributions to the foundation, and as chair, I am confident that he will be of great value as we continue to grow as one of the pre-eminent sources of information and support for the television industry," ATAS chairman Dick Askin said.

A 30-year media veteran, Petry has served as chairman of the audit committee and director at the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He also represents NBC on the boards of children's television network Qubo Ventures and Miss Universe Llc.
