Ne-Yo can't beat 'Death'

Empty

A full week of Metallica was enough to keep Ne-Yo from going 3-for-3 on the Billboard 200.

The metal band's "Death Magnetic" bowed on top last week after only three days in stores. It holds off Ne-Yo's "Year of the Gentleman," which charges in with a quarter-million copies. The singer's first two sets — 2006's "In My Own Words" and last year's "Because of You" — bowed at No. 5 on the big chart.

It's a busy week for top 10 debuts. "Brass Knuckles," Nelly's first studio disc in four years, arrives a distant third, while Hootie & the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker bows at No. 5 and tops the country chart.

The two other debutants mark personal chart bests. DJ Khaled's "We Global" beats his previous peak by a notch, and rock act Buckcherry scores its first top 10 album and best sales week with "Black Butterfly." (partialdiff)
