Netflix CEO Reed Hastings' Pay Rises to $23.2M in 2016

The streaming giant also discloses the annual compensation for chief content officer Ted Sarandos and other top executives.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings was paid $23.2 million in 2016, compared with $16.6 million in 2015 and $11.1 million in 2014, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing on Monday.

Chief content officer Ted Sarandos was paid $18.9 million, compared with $14 million in 2015 and $8.8 million in 2014.

In 2016, the company's shares rose 16 percent while Hastings' compensation rose 40 percent and Sarandos' was up 29 percent.

Hastings earned a $900,000 salary in 2016 and got $22.3 million in option awards. Sarandos earned a $1 million salary and $13.9 million in options plus $4 million in a non-equity incentive plan.

Neil Hunt, the chief product officer, earned $8.8 million in 2016, up from $8.4 million; Greg Peters, the international development officer, earned $8 million, up from $5.6 million; and CFO David Wells made $6.1 million, up from $4.2 million.
