Netflix Streaming Service Experiences Outage A Day After Strong Earnings Report
Problem hits after CEO said users now watch more content online than on DVD
NEW YORK - Netflix's online streaming service was down Thursday, a day after CEO Reed Hastings highlighted that the popularity of Web offerings has made his firm primarily a streaming company.
"We are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it," a spokeswoman said without detailing what caused the outage.
A Netflix telephone hotline similarly said Thursday afternoon that the company was aware of reported problems and "working on a resolution as quickly as possible."
A report on NewTeeVee.com said that streamers on the firm's Website were also informed that service was "temporarily unavailable," but that Netflix shipping centers were continuing to send and receive DVDs.
