Adele, Caitlyn Jenner Portraits Featured in New Annie Leibovitz Exhibition
"WOMEN: New Portraits," which also includes Amy Schumer, is the latest phase in her "Women" project.
It looks like 2016 may be the year of Annie Leibovitz. At least, she’s off to a big start. First, the legendary lenswoman shot the famed Pirelli calendar, doing it her way, of course, and honoring powerful women who were more or less dressed in a dramatic change of pace for the typically sexed-up calendar. And now she’s going on tour!
The artist is the subject and curator of a new museum exhibit touring 10 cities globally. The name of the presentation commissioned by UBS is "WOMEN: New Portraits," and it’s a follow-up to her 1999 project with Susan Sontag. This time around, Leibovitz has shot new portraits of notable creative and inspiring women, some of whom, unsurprisingly, were actually part of the Pirelli calendar, too.

We can’t wait to see her image of Adele, who is naturally one of the show's headliners, alongside Amy Schumer (who was photographed with her writer/producer sister, Kim Caramele), Caitlyn Jenner, Misty Copeland, artist Cindy Sherman, Gloria Steinem and farm-to-table champion Alice Waters (shot beside her writer daughter), among others.
Although the exhibition just kicked off in London, it is making its way stateside, to San Francisco’s The Presidio, beginning Mar. 25. And, because we’re talking strong females, UBS also will present a lecture series beginning in SF called “Women for Women,” addressing topics that are globally relevant to women and women’s rights.
