New film studio planned for Russia
Complex hopes to serve Moscow, St. PetersburgMOSCOW -- A new film studio complex is being planned for the Russian city of Nizhni Novgorod.
Boris Vishyak, former general director of the TVC channel, along with several partners, plans to build a $15 million complex on a 75,000-square-meter plot near Sormovskoye lake, the Russian business daily Kommersant reported Monday.
According to the report, the developers expect to capitalize on competition between Moscow and St. Petersburg, the only two cities in Russia that have substantial studio complex spaces, as well the fact that Nizhni is relatively close to the two cities' film and television companies.
A date for the completion of the project has not been announced.
