New Line to Adapt Jojo Moyes Novel 'One Plus One' (Exclusive)
Moyes previously wrote the best-seller 'Me Before You'
New Line has picked up the rights to One Plus One, the new best-selling novel from Jojo Moyes. Moyes is attached to pen the screenplay.
The British author previously wrote best-sellers The Girl You Left Behind and Me Before You, the latter of which is being developed into a feature from New Line and MGM.
One Plus One follows a single mom with two kids, one being bullied and the other a math whiz. When the latter is presented with a once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity on the other side of the country, the mom procures the help of her obnoxious tech millionaire employer and everyone, including the dog, sets out on a road trip that changes their lives.
The book has drawn comparisons to Little Miss Sunshine, About a Boy and Bridget Jones’s Diary.
The novel, published in the U.K. in February 2014, quickly became a best-seller. It is currently No. 1 for a second week in paperback there. It was released in the U.S. on July 1 and debuted at No. 11 on the NYT best-seller list.
No producers are attached. Dave Neustadter and Andrea Johnston will oversee for the company.
Moyes is repped by Curtis Brown.
