New Regency, Josephson nab 'Smash' spec

Empty

NEW YORK -- New Regency Productions and Josephson Entertainment are getting smashed.

NRP has picked up Aaron Philson Brown's teen demolition derby spec script "Smash" in a low six-figure deal. Barry Josephson will produce through his JE shingle.

The story tracks a rebellious teen who moves to a suburban Midwest town, soon finding himself racing and smashing up fast cars with a fast crowd.

NRP's Alex Sundell is overseeing the project for her company. JE exec Alexander F. Young brought the script to NRP and is overseeing it for his outfit.

Josephson, who's career has recently become "Enchanted" thanks to the $330 million worldwide hit of the same name, is now in production on "They Came From Upstairs" for 20th Century Fox/New Regency.

"Smash" is the first screenplay sale for Brown, who comes from a career in advertising. He's repped by Stephen Crawford at Luber Roklin Entertainment.
