The end of 2011 may still be three weeks away, but a New Year’s Eve celebration took place on Monday night on Hollywood Boulevard.

The star-studded cast of Garry Marshall’s upcoming romantic comedy New Year’s Eve celebrated the film’s release at the premiere, walking the black carpet, and then enjoying an after-party at the Kodak Ballroom.

The Warner Bros. romantic comedy follows several people on the last night of the year in New York. The big-name cast, much like Marshall’s Valentine’s Day, features Ashton Kutcher, Zac Efron, Lea Michele, Hilary Swank, Abigail Breslin, Katherine Heigl and Michelle Pfeiffer, who all attended the premiere.

Ashton Kutcher came alone, but posed for photos with Glee’s Lea Michele on the carpet before the event. The Two and a Half Men star rushed past reporters, avoiding any interviews on the black carpet.

Lea Michele, wearing a stunning Valentino dress, did not come alone, but brought a date – Spring Awakening co-star Jonathan Groff. Additionally, her Glee co-stars including Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Harry Shum Jr. and Kevin McHale also came out to support their castmate.

Another star who brought a date? Josh Duhamel, who arrived with his wife, Fergie. Fergie sparkled in a beautiful gold dress.

Zac Efron arrived in a cool grey suit. The actor, who plays a bike messenger in the romantic comedy, told THR that he liked working in the film because he could say he was in a movie with Robert De Niro – even though he didn’t have any scenes with him.

Katherine Heigl arrived at the premiere with her husband, Josh Kelley. While she too did not do any interviews on the black carpet, the couple let loose at the afterparty, dancing together to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.”

Abigail Breslin spoke to THR on the black carpet before the premiere, revealing that this was her first on-screen kiss. “It was very professional. There were a lot of breath mints on set,” said Breslin. Breslin, who stars as a 15-year-old who wants to spend New Year’s Eve with her friends rather than her mother (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) also told THR that she and Parker spent most of their time talking about American Idol, a show they both love.

Hilary Swank, who plays the stressed-out producer of the Times Square balldrop, told THR that she really relates to her character's predicament when the ball has a mechanical malfunction on New Year's Eve. “I totally relate to it. I take my job so seriously and I don’t want to mess it up, so I totally relate to it,” she told THR.
