NYFW: This Is Bonnie Wright's Latest Obsession
The actress — best known to Harry Potter fans as Ginny Weasley — told us what she's been spending on lately during Prada's Iconoclast party, which also welcomed Gabrielle Union, Zosia Mamet and Kesha.
Prada has always had a soft spot for the disco era, and their Iconoclasts exhibit is no exception. On Thursday night the company threw a cocktail and viewing party to kick off New York Fashion Week at their legendary Rem Koolhaas space in Soho. The party featured 24 outfits created by WilkinsonMartin, the design duo of American Hustle costume designer Michael Wilkinson and architect Tim Martin. Showcasing Miuccia Prada’s spring/summer 2015 collection, some of the mannequins, with fluffy giant eyelashes and voluminous puffy hair, are posed to hold out hands indicating "stop" while others cover their mouths in gossipy whispers.
"It was an enormous amount of fun. A mad rush while we bent sequins and broke glass," laughs Martin. Partygoers such as Hailee Steinfeld, Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade and Zosia Mamet admired the unusual installation.
But the Los Angeles-based design team won’t have time to stick around to see the full impact of their work throughout fashion week. “We’re heading to Boston tomorrow. We’re going to catch Isabella Rosellini’s one-woman show."

Also amongst the guests was actress Bonnie Wright, otherwise known to Harry Potter fans as Ginny Weasley. Clad in a red Prada shift dress and shoes sent to her by the label, Wright, who is gearing up to do her first feature film set in New York, indicated that even more than fashion, furniture is her latest obsession. "I just moved from London to New York, so I’m just now receiving all my furniture. It was an empty apartment for a minute there!"
Getting used to the deep freeze has not been as tough as she thought. "I got really lucky! I happened to buy snow boots in January and they have come in handy." Wright, who is also directing short films and adapting short stories, will soon head out to the Mojave Desert to film the Alexandra McGuinness-directed The Highway Is for Gamblers with Nikki Reed and Joe Jonas. "But I will be happy to escape the cold for a bit!"
The music industry was also well represented with Kesha, DJ Kiss, Leigh Lezark, DJ Mos and MS MR all stopping in. MS MR’s Lizzy Plapinger and Max Hershenow posed in the style of the mannequins. Hershenow, who was originally based in New York, remarked on the pace of the city. "I just moved to Los Angeles and I really notice the difference. It’s chiller on the West Coast!" The musician says that fashion week will be great however. "Tomorrow? I’m ready for the Barney’s party!"
