New York Film Critics Online Name 'Boyhood' Best Picture

The group also gave acting awards to Eddie Redmayne and Marion Cotillard

The New York Film Critics Online named Richard Linklater’s Boyhood best picture of the year Sunday. It also voted its award for best director to Linklater and chose the movie's Patricia Arquette as best supporting actress.

The group — not to be confused with the New York Film Critics Circle, which also chose Boyhood when it met on Dec. 1 — also handed three awards to Birdman, which was cited for best screenplay, cinematography and ensemble cast. Eddie Redmayne was honored as best actor for his performance in The Theory of Everything, while Marion Cotillard received the best actess award for her performance in Two Days, One Night, which also won for foreign language film. J.K. Simmons won for best supporting actor for Whiplash.
