"We believe that his recovery will be quick," said a NYT spokesperson.
New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham has suffered a stroke.
"Bill Cunningham is in the hospital recovering from what appears to have been a stroke," a New York Times spokesperson said in a statement.
"Bill's family and senior editors from The Times have been in regular contact with him. We believe that his recovery will be quick."
Cunningham, 87, beloved for his street-style images in the NYT, was the star subject in the documentary Bill Cunningham New York (2011), which followed the shutterbug around the Big Apple as he photographed everyday folks in Manhattan.
