NewFronts: Conde Nast Entertainment Comedy Series to Star Danny Pudi
The digital video business of Conde Nast has partnered with Jaunt Studios to produce two original VR series.
Conde Nast Entertainment is serving up a broad slate of programming.
The digital video division of Conde Nast announced at the NewFronts that it will produce more than 2,500 new videos during the 2015 to 2016 season across its many publication brands. Those videos live on over-the-top platform The Scene, which has expanded to 18 branded channels and 40 total channels.
One project that will stream exclusively on The Scene is comedy sci-fi series Tyler Zone, which was created by Keith Schofield and will star Danny Pudi (Community). The series is presented by Party Over Here, Fox's comedy development venture with The Lonely Island. Members Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone serve as executive producers.
Among the other series in the works at CNE are Vogue's 73 Questions, which asks celebrities to answer sometimes intimate questions in a short period of time, Bon Appetit's It's My Party and dating series The Perfect Match, from Glamour.
CNE has also struck a deal with Jaunt Studios to produce two narrative virtual reality series, including unscripted Family View, which will follow some extraordinary family businesses.
CNE president Dawn Ostroff, speaking to a packed house during the company's NewFront presentation, explained that all of the programming was designed to appeal to viewers emotions.
"We talked to real people to hear about their emotions behind their actions," she said. "They were using digital video to fulfill an emotional need or mood. They wanted to experience more, laugh more, know more and feel more connected. We program and market our content with all of that in mind."
In addition, CNE announced that will launch its 19th branded channel, Latino millennial-focused Vida Belleza. The addition comes as CNE has also added new partner channels, Warner Music, THR sister publication Billboard, Red Bull and CollegeHumor.
