Gary Busey made headlines as the latest actor to throw his support behind GOP presidential hopeful, Newt Gingrich. Busey announced at a holiday party over the weekend that he would be endorsing the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, saying, “I’ve never met Newt but I know what he stands for.”
Asked whether he identifies himself as a member of the Republican Party, Busey responded: “I’m a Texan.”

Busey is hardly alone when it comes to right-wingers in Hollywood. Buzzfeed has compiled a list of 40 stars who have tended to lean right, including Clint Eastwood, Gloria Estefan, Bruce Willis, LL Cool J, Jessica Simpson and Adam Sandler.

Donald Trump had been previously slated to host a GOP debate on Dec. 27 in Des Moines, Iowa, but pulled out on Dec. 13. Prior to the cancellation, Trump’s debate had reportedly drawn significant criticism from prominent Republicans, urging candidates not to participate. Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman each opted out of the event.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Trump stated, “The problem is the Republicans are afraid that if I run as an independent candidate, they don't want to have a debate and then have me announce that I'm running as an independent candidate.”
The Apprentice host, who previously dropped his bid for the presidency, also told THR that he is still considering running for office, and would make that announcement following his show’s finale.
