NFL Network Unveils 'Football Town' and 'Catching Odell' Shows
The network also has a couple of one-hour specials planned this season.
The NFL Network said Tuesday it has added to its lineup a one-hour special about an extraordinary catch, and also that one of the new season's previously announced shows has a new name.
The show pitched as Northern Lights will now be called Football Town: Barrow, Alaska, and it is a reality show about a high school football team playing in the northernmost point in the U.S.
The Barrow High School Whalers are so secluded that the team flies 500 miles, at minimum, when they don't play on their home field, which is made of blue turf and sits on a strip of land between the Arctic Ocean and a frozen lagoon.
The eight-episode series debuts Sep. 17, and it hails from Leftfield Pictures, the company behind reality shows like Pawn Stars and American Restoration.
The plan is for Football Town to continue as a series exploring other teams in other cities. See a trailer for Football Town: Barrow, Alaska below.
NFL Network also has a couple of one-hour specials planned this season, including the previously reported Do Your Job: Bill Belichick and the 2014 Patriots, premiering Wednesday, and Catching Odell, slated for Sep. 23.
The latter, announced Tuesday, chronicles how New York Giants rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. became an instant celebrity last year primarily due to a single touchdown catch, video of which is below.
