NFP picks up 'Dragon Tattoo' for Germany
The most successful Swedish film of all timeCOLOGNE, Germany -- NFP marketing & distribution has picked up German rights to Swedish crime trilogy "Millennium," based on the best-selling novels by Stieg Larsson.
NFP plans to release the first feature, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," in October together with Warner Bros. Germany. NFP will bow the second and third features in 2010.
Directed by Niels Arden Oplev and starring Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" has already become the most successful Swedish film of all time and has sold across Europe.
German public broadcaster ZDF co-produced the film and on Tuesday the channel announced plans to produce five to six feature films a year, starting in 2010.
ZDF film head Reinhold Elschot said the channel was aiming to produce primetime-quality features budgeted at between €3 million - €5 million ($4.2 million - $7 million).
