'Nice Guys' Casts Its Bad Guys (Exclusive)
Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe star in the detective thriller
The Nice Guys, the detective thriller starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, has found its bad guys.
Beau Knapp and Keith David have been cast as the adversaries in the Shane Black-helmed movie.
Set in 1970s Los Angeles, Nice Guys follows a private eye (Gosling) and a hired leg breaker (Crowe) who must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star.
Knapp will play a gold chain-wearing motormouth hitman who also is accident prone; David plays his older partner.
Black and Anthony Bagarozzi wrote the screenplay for the Warner Bros. project, which is slated for release June 17, 2016. Matt Bomer also stars.
Joel Silver is producing under his Silver Pictures banner with Ken Kao of Waypoint Entertainment; Hal Sadoff and Michael Malone are serving as executive producers.
Knapp, who most recently appeared in The Signal, has a slew of projects in post. He'll appear on Antoine Fuqua's Southpaw; thriller Run All Night starring Liam Neeson; and indies The Guilty Innocent and What Lola Wants. He's currently filming Disney's Coast Guard rescue drama The Finest Hours with Chris Pratt and Eric Bana. He's repped by CAA, Luber Roklin Entertainment and Morris Yorn.
David is a busy feature film, TV and voice actor whose work has included Crash, There's Something About Mary, Barbershop, Requiem for a Dream and the Riddick films Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick. His recent film credits includes Cloud Atlas and voice work for Free Birds. On the TV side, he most recently appeared on Fox's comedy Enlisted. He's repped by Stone Manners Salners Agency, London Theatrical in the U.K. and attorney Diana G. Shaw.
