Nick Jonas On Demi Lovato Single, Joe Jonas Solo Career and Mentoring Kids (Video)
The singer spoke with THR at GRAMMY Camp, where he teamed up with Greyson Chance as a guest professional.
Nick Jonas paid it forward on Thursday during an appearance at the 7th annual GRAMMY Camp.
The youngest JoBro joined 13-year old recording artist Greyson Chance and Warner Bros. Records executive Mike Elizondo for a master panel with high school students from across the country. The trio spent more than an hour answering questions about everything from song inspiration, to the importance of staying grounded and resolving creative differences between artist and label.
The Hollywood Reporter spoke with all three panelists following the Q&A session, where Jonas told us what he hoped to convey to these aspiring music moguls.
"The message that I hope to bring them is just that if you're passionate about this and you really do want to make a career out of it, a life out of music, it's the best thing to be a part of," he told THR. "I get to wake up every day and create music. And even when it's a tough moment as far as career ups and downs, it's always something you're passionate about and it's a beautiful way to spend your life."
Jonas also discussed brother Joe's latest solo endeavor, lending his full support to the "See No More" singer. No stranger to solo projects himself, the younger Jonas took a brief hiatus from The Jonas Brothers to form Nick Jonas & the Administration in 2009.
"It's interesting because the project that I did was more of a side project and he's really doing a solo thing," he said. "When I did mine, it really provided for me to be able to go and do that for a little while, come back with the brothers and have it be a natural kind of progression, but he is really kind of doing a solo thing."
"He's really enjoying it and his songs are great," Jonas adds of his big bro.
The singer also touched on former tourmate Demi Lovato, who backed out of The Jonas Brothers' 2010 tour in order to check into a rehabilitation facility. Lovato has since opened up about battles with anorexia, bulimia and bipolar disorder.
Lovato released her first new single since seeking treatment, titled "Skyscraper." The track shot to No. 1 on iTunes and has received significant praise from fans and fellow musicians in Hollywood.
"It's a great song," Jonas says of her latest track. "She played it for me a while ago. It's great."
