Nicole Kidman's 'Grace of Monaco' Acquired by Weinstein Co.
The Weinstein Co. is set to give the story of Grace Kelly the royal treatment.
The company has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Grace of Monaco and will give the film an awards-season qualifying run with a limited release Dec. 27.
Directed by Olivier Dahan (La vie en rose) from a screenplay by Arash Amel (Erased), Grace stars Nicole Kidman as the ill-fated Hollywood star-turned-European princess.
Pierre-Ange Le Pogam of Stone Angels produced with YRF Entertainment’s Arash Amel and Uday Chopra. TWC executives screened the film this month in London.
“More than 30 years after her death, Grace Kelly’s story continues to be one of insurmountable allure, and we are so happy Olivier Dahan has brought it new life,” TWC co-chairman Harvey Weinstein said. “Nicole Kidman’s commanding performance is the perfect portrait of a woman who was not only royalty but who also remains a legend of the silver screen and fashion icon.”
Tim Roth also stars as Prince Rainier III, Kelly's husband. Milo Ventimiglia, Frank Langella, Parker Posey, Paz Vega and Derek Jacobi round out the cast.
CAA and Le Pogam on repped the filmmakers. David Glasser and Michal Steinberg negotiated on behalf of the Weinstein Co.
