Noah Baumbach to Take on Jonathan Franzen's 'The Corrections' for HBO
Scott Rudin, who optioned the film rights for Paramount a decade earlier, is believed to be attached as an executive producer.
Screen writer Noah Baumbach is believed to be developing Jonathan Franzen's The Corrections for HBO.
The drama project is based on the author's National Book Award-winning novel, which centers on the troubles of an elderly Midwestern couple and their three adult children, all with complicated lives.
Scott Rudin, who optioned the film rights for Paramount in 2001, is attached as an executive producer on the TV project, say sources. Baumbach and Franzen will write and executive produce, with Baumbach likely to direct.
The news comes after the film iteration had languished in development for the better part of a decade, with David Hare and Robert Zemeckis attached for a time to write and direct, respectively.
Baumbach, whose big screen credits include The Squid and the Whale, Greenberg and the upcoming adaption of Emperor's Children, is repped by UTA.
