'Noah' Trailer: Here Comes the Flood (Video)
Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson face a deluge in the special-effects-heavy first official look at Paramount's Darren Aronofsky-directed biblical epic.
A flood is coming, and Russell Crowe's Noah and his family are preparing for the deluge.
The first trailer for Paramount's Darren Aronofsky-directed version of the biblical epic has debuted online, featuring cascading water, fire and hordes of animals flying, marching and swarming onto Noah's ark, two by two.
The special-effects-heavy preview begins with Noah dreaming of a flood and fire and learning from Anthony Hopkins' Methuselah that the world is about to be destroyed.
"My father said that one day, if man continued in his ways, the creator would annihilate this world," he tells Noah. "He speaks to you. You must trust that he speaks in a way you can understand."
So, Noah and his family get to work building their famous ark, only to be confronted by a crowd of angry villagers who think they're up to no good.
When they attack, though, they're thwarted by the rain that's begun.
The film, set to hit theaters March 28, 2014, co-stars Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson.
The Hollywood Reporter recently revealed exclusively that Aronofsky and Paramount have been at odds over the final version of the film, following test screenings that generated troubling reactions. Those working on the film have also been challenged to come up with an exciting third act that doesn't alienate the film's potentially large Christian audience.
