Number's up for Access IT name

Company becomes Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp.

Publicly traded digital cinema provider Access Integrated Technologies is changing its name to Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp.

"We are looking to create something that customers recognize as a whole new standard for d-cinema in theaters," said company chairman/CEO Bud Mayo, citing examples of such known brands as Dolby and Imax.

He said a Cinedigm logo will be introduced on cinema screens in the coming weeks.

The company plans to seek approval of the new name at its next stockholders' meeting in September. Until then, the company intends to maintain its Access IT corporate name but also do business as and use the Cinedigm Digital Cinema moniker.

Its alternative content subsidiary, the Bigger Picture, will become known as Cinedigm's Alternative Content Distribution group. A new stock symbol is expected from NASDAQ on Friday.

The company offers a digital cinema platform and satellite operation as well as a deployment plan. Its Cinelive technology enables 2-D and 3-D live broadcasting.

Said Mayo: "We have successfully brought true digital cinema to more than 3,700 screens in the U.S. and are preparing to almost triple that number in the coming few years."
