In an interview with Piers Morgan on Thursday, Davis Guggenheim, the Oscar winning director who put together the upcoming campaign film The Road We've Traveled, said that the format and limitations inherent in a short film made it impossible to mention all of the president's victories.

"The negative for me was there were too many accomplishments," he said. "I have 17 minutes to put them all in there."

Morgan scoffed at the comment, but Guggenheim stood his ground. And when pressed for any negative at all, the director said that the film portrayed Obama trying to exact change with an uncompromising Congress, and that he personally could find no faults in the president.

"I'm in awe of him," Guggenheim said.

This is Guggenheim's second effort working with Obama; he was involved in Obama's initial run for the White House, making a short film touting the then-Senator's biography that was shown at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

He makes mainstream, theater-bound documentaries as well, though they are also part-advocacy. Guggenheim won an Oscar for his collaboration with Al Gore on 2004's global warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, and his take on the educational failings in America, Waiting for Superman, was a sensation at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

A trailer for the film came out on Wednesday; the entire piece is due out next week.
