Olivia Munn Joining 'Ride Along 2'
Kevin Hart and Ice Cube will reprise their roles in Universal's comedy sequel.
Olivia Munn is going for a ride along.
The actress is in talks to join Universal's sequel Ride Along 2, starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.
Tim Story returns to direct the sequel, which again centers on a security guard (Hart) and an Atlanta cop (Ice Cube). Munn will play a tough Miami homicide detective who is a love interest for Cube.
Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi wrote the script for the comedy, which is slated to hit theaters on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016.
Cube and Matt Alvarez will produce for CubeVision alongside William Packer for Will Packer Productions. Larry Brezner will also produce. Executive vp production Scott Bernstein will oversee the project for the studio.
Ride Along had a record-breaking opening weekend when it debuted over the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend to $48.6 million. Costing a modest $25 million to make and nabbing an A CinemaScore, the film stayed in the No. 1 spot for three weeks straight and has earned $130.6 million domestically to date.
Munn will next be seen in horror film Deliver Us From Evil, hitting theaters July 2. The actress, who stars on HBO's The Newsroom, also will star in upcoming Johnny Depp starrer Mortdecai. She's repped by CAA, Mosaic and Jackoway Tyerman.
