Douglas, who won gold in the all-around competition at the London Games, will join teammates Jordyn Wieber, McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman and Kyla Ross on the morning program. The "Fierce Five," as they have been dubbed, became only the second U.S. women's gymnastics team to take home the team gold at the Olympics.

Other Olympians set to serve as special contributors to Today this week include gold medal diver David Boudia, soccer star Hope Solo, track and field sprinter Allyson Felix and swimmers Cullen Jones and Katie Ledecky, Team USA's youngest member. The Olympics concluded Sunday night in London.

Meanwhile, Today -- which has been broadcasting in London for more than two weeks during the Games -- also is set to present a new series dubbed Today in History, which will feature the show's Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Natalie Morales re-creating photographs that capture a significant moment in history.

The series kicks off with the four anchors posing as the Beatles on Abbey Road. Other re-creations will include Lauer as Michael Jordan in his famous dunk shot, Roker as Buzz Aldrin taking his first step on the moon and Morales and her son in Charlie Chaplin's The Kid.

Today also announced that it has scheduled five acts for its Toyota Summer Concert Series this week, starting with the Fray on Monday. Other scheduled performers include Nicki Minaj (Tuesday), Carrie Underwood (Wednesday), Lionel Richie (Thursday) and 98 Degrees (Friday), who are reuniting for their first TV concert in 10 years.
