The 'Apprentice' star's job will focus on public engagement.
Omarosa Manigault has been hired.
The memorable contestant from the first season of Donald Trump's The Apprentice is joining Trump's White House staff as director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison, the president-elect announced Wednesday.
The announcement came in a statement from the president-elect's transition team, which included a wave of White House hires, 11 in total.
"These individuals will be key leaders in helping to implement the President-elect's agenda and bring real change to Washington," said incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus in the statement. "Each of them has been instrumental over the last several months, and in some cases years, in helping the President-elect."
The Associated Press first reported that Manigault, who prefers to be called only by her first name, would be joining Trump's White House staff in a position that would focus on public engagement on Tuesday.
