Let's blast off!

When it comes to putting together a fashion show spectacle, no one does it better than Opening Ceremony's Humberto Leon and Carol Lim. (Except maybe Kanye, but that's a whole other conversation.) From chocolate-covered walls (yum) to a Spike Jonze and Jonah Hill-penned play, the designing duo sure know how to draw an eclectic crowd to their clothes.

On Sunday night, Leon and Lim — with the help of visual futurist and illustrator Syd Mead, known for his work on Blade Runner and Tron — transformed Pier 90 into a space age-themed runway that saw the artist's designs of inflatable hovercrafts floating above the models who strutted down the catwalk in OC's fall 2016 collection.

Not only did they tap the L.A.-based creative for the show, which ran nearly an hour after its original showtime, the designers also incorporated illustrations from his archives — including an imagined portrait of L.A. in 2013 from 1988 — on to the ready-to-wear.

The evening's theme was further established with an iridescent puff jacket paired with neon orange tron sunglasses; a matching crocodile-stamped velvet jacket and mini skirt styled with over-the-knee-boots in the same pattern; and a head-to-toe silver metallic pantsuit (which Christina Ricci told Pret-a-Reporter was her favorite).

The front-row fans that got a chance to admire the futuristic, yet modern pieces up close included Ricci, Rosario Dawson, Charli XCX, Twin Shadow, Orange Is the New Black co-stars Dascha Polanco and Natasha Lyonne, and Jaden Smith and girlfriend Sarah Synder.

Talk about the stars aligning tonight.
